Put ALL of God’s armor on, why? Because you really have no idea what your going to need for the day but God does! It It doesn’t make sense to put on the belt but not the helmet or taking the sword but choosing to leave the shield at home today. The enemy is waiting to surprise you. Oh , how often do we cover one area and leave ourselves wide open to a quick and easy blow in another area. God said ALL, there isnt a choice.  It’s all about balance. How many of you know someone that is incredibly strong spiritually in one area, almost obnoxiously so   and in other areas they are sorely lacking.  Truth be told most of us are like that from day to day. We simply don’t take the time to completely dress.  It’s like rolling out of bed when we oversleep and throwing some clothes on. Spiritually we run out the door and whisper a prayer as we grab our coffee and run out the door. THAT is supposed to be our covering and armor for the day! I don’t think so!

We are looking at Ephesians 6:10 -19 A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil.

Now how many of us would lay out what we wear for the day, look at it and chose to put on half of it. Do i really need a shirt, socks or belt? I mean you could but you’d look pretty silly! You want the complete outfit. Ever made a quick trip where you didnt want to see ANYONE!Maybe it was to a store or even out to get the paper or your mailbox, you look, well, not your best (being kind) and you run into someone you know? You weren’t prepared for that and you regretted not having taken the time to look better. Even more appropriate, what if a catcher in baseball looked at his equipment and put on all but the face guard? I mean he leaves himself wide open for a fast ball to the nose. You could go on and on with examples. But spiritually don’t we do that? We pick and choose what we want to put on of God’s armor, you know, the spiritual protection he hand picked for us! He said put it ALL on. Completely dressed with all of the accessories..decked out..stylin’. Why? we’ll find out!

You see when we are strong in his power, it may not be what the world sees as strength. It may be seen as weakness or laziness as we put on longsuffering or forgiveness, meekness. That is why it is so important to daily have intimacy with God and re-dress, allow him to chose what you wear that day. To understand his promises, his will, his character, his ways. To chose his strength.. not what we want to put on. It is an act of submission and humility to be strong in Him. Again, his strength is perfected in our weakness….not our strength.
